All About John Crismon

Business Stuff

I live in Chandler, Arizona. That's about 25 miles from Phoenix. I was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona and aside from two years of service, I have lived here my entire life. I come from a long history of Crismon's that helped settle the Lehi and Mesa areas many years ago. It's hot in the summer, but the winters are fantastic.

I have been in the IT industry for around 11 years now in one capacity or another. A few months into one position, I began reading up on HTML. I tried it. I liked it. Then the opportunity came to help the company I was currently employed by to update the company web site. What I did in a few hours saved the company nearly $8,000 by not having an outside firm put the simple pages together. The rest was history. I became the webmaster for that company.

Not too much longer went by and people at work started asking me if I was interested in doing web sites on the side to make some extra money. This was a no brainer. I accepted a few jobs and strengthened my skills. After a layoff, I put together a few more sites for yet a few more clients. By this time I was trying new techniques including using JavaScript, cascading style sheets, and even generating dynamic pages. I was loving it.

A few more years have passed by and I have added a few more skills to my repertoire including ASP, ColdFusion, and SQL. Using ColdFusion and SQL, I have put together a handy customer service application for my current employer. I have also enjoyed handling the position of webmaster at this job as well. To date, my current employer's web site is the one I am the proudest of. After having a professional team put together the home page and a secondary page, I went to work tweaking and adjusting the site to make it work better. I also added some changes to help optimize the site for the search engines to gain better placement. It continues to be a fun experience.

Family and Personal Stuff

When I'm not busy with work, I spend time at home with the family, and working on my own hobbies. My wife and I were married in 1995 and we have four children who keep us busy. My wife is currently a stay home mother, which I am proud of. In today's world, there is not enough of those.

Aside from family, I enjoy playing guitar, working on the computer, playing video games, and listening to music. I have way too many favorite groups to list so I won't list any. Let it suffice me to say that I enjoy hard rock, progressive metal, progressive rock, and heavy metal and there are plenty of groups to keep me interested in music for years to come. Since I enjoy the guitar so much, I mostly enjoy listening to instrumental music. I don't play guitar very well, but I'm learning.
